Sobells Boutique — It’s All About Vintage

It’s no secret to those around me that I like vintage!  I also like to shop online!  So today I’m going to merge those two ideas together to tell you about a delightful Vintage Shop I found on Etsy.  Let me introduce you to Harriett Kroplinski, the shop curator for Sobells Boutique

(1)  Harriett, tell me a little bit about who you are.

I am a southern lady born and raised in Greenville, SC, in the Upstate South Carolina, very close to the Blue Ridge Mountains.

I have three children and three adorable grandchildren.  My grandchildren call me Grammy.  I wanted to be called Mimi but that is not what they wanted, so Grammy it is! Grandchildren always get their way with grandmothers!

My background is in the beauty industry for over 30 years.  I am a licensed esthetician.  I was previously a salon owner.  The name of my salon was Sobells.  It means to me, so beautiful.  So that is where I got the name of my Etsy shop.

My favorite activity when I am not working on my Etsy shop is sewing.  I have the most pleasant memories of sewing with my grandmother.  She taught me how to make doll clothes.  Some of those I still have to this day.  I have made it my mission to share those special moments with my two granddaughters.  This past summer we made American Doll furniture and handbags.  I want them to cherish those special memories of me as I hold dear of my grandmother.

An Interview with Mrs. A.

I’m a wife, mother and grandmother enjoying life in the Heartland of America.  I like sewing new treasures or re-purposing gently used fabrics, crocheting, photography, beautiful quilts and fun jewelry.  I also enjoy the hunt for a great vintage find and researching the story behind each piece.  I’m always looking for a better way to organize just about anything and everything.  And…revamping recipes to cook with food allergies is a must!

Norman Rockwell — An American Way of Life

It’s always been said that baseball and apple pie typify the American Way of Life, but Norman Rockwell’s collection of American culture portrays us as far more than that.  Norman Rockwell, an American author, painter and illustrator in the 1900’s, portrayed the American Way of Life with optimism, humor, warmth, and patriotism.  Rockwell lived from 1894-1978 and produced over 4,000 original works in his lifetime.
